Next meeting, and other stuff

The next club meeting will be May 12th at Ye Olde Sandwich Shoppe (corner of N 1st and Townville St, downtown Seneca).  The business starts at 7:00, but many of us arrive at 6:00 to eat and talk.  We'll be on the side with the ice cream shop, in the back room.

Agenda for the meeting:
  • update on reorganization
  • elect officers
  • plan for the next meeting, which will be more of a social meeting with food, probably ice cream, surely a watermelon, kids in the pool, and stuff like that
  • other business and hearing of ideas -- including, especially, yours.

Donna and Tony Presley have a youtube channel, presdog1, with videos of their hiking and running.   There are videos of the Seneca Half Marathon, and last year's Seneca Fest 5k, and several other races.  http://www.youtube.com/user/presdog1

So far there hasn't been much interest in track night.  Would anybody have more use for an early morning workout?

If you're into high school track & field, Seneca is hosting the Tri-County Invitational tonight at 5:00, and then the Region 1 AAA championship on the 27th - 28th.  The Seneca Journal has a story about it.  No definite confirmation yet, but Coach Chris White told me a while back that they are probably going to have another open/masters track meet this year.

Special Olympics was in Anderson Wednesday, story and pics at the Independent Mail

In recent years, the Volunteers In Medical Missions' Chick-Fil-A 5k Challenge has been the biggest race in Oconee.  It's this Saturday, and race director Larry Secrest says pre-registration is on par with last year.  Let's hope for agreeable weather, and to see you out there.

Happy running, walking, or whatever!
