Let's get going...

This is running weather!  I'll never understand people who don't get out and run until Spring, when it's too hot...

The last meeting went well, we elected a new club president, Brandon Overholt.  There were also a few other new people, and we're all interested in having an active, fun, and beneficial runners' club in our area.  We discussed a few ideas, and we're going to meet again October 4.  Same place, Ye Olde Sandwich Shoppe -- the meeting will start at 6:30, but some of us get there at 6:00 to order and start eating.

Let me take a poll:  would you join the club if we had two races, and membership required you to help at one race, and you get into the other free?  No money, you gotta work.  You get to run in the other race free, and there's a couple of other races in Oconee that give $5 discounts to ORRC members.  What do you think?

Some folks are opening a running specialty shop in Clemson.  Gotta Run Clemson, grand opening September 29.  They haven't confirmed yet, but I invited them to come to the next meeting and tell us about what all they're going to offer, and especially how they plan to be involved in the running scene.  I think they're planning to have weekly runs there.  www.gottarunclemson.com

I just gave the calendar a much needed update.  There are plenty of races in our area, including, coming up soon, the oldest and one of the biggest races in Oconee: the Rotary Oktoberfest 5k.  "The fastest 5k in the county."  If you're looking to PR, that's one to consider.  See the calendar on the left sidebar for links and registration info.

Happy running, walking, or chillin' along somehow...
