Grand Prix 2011

This year is basically a trial run to see how it goes, and find out how many people are interested -- so if you have any suggestions please tell us.

How does it work?
You score points by finishing, winning, or placing in running events in Oconee county in 2011. At the end of the year the person with the most points wins.

Wins what?
prestige and bragging rights, maybe a trophy or plaque

Which events count?
all races in Oconee county that are open to the public, and any runs anywhere sponsored by or insured through Oconee Road Runners Club

Do you have to be a member of the road runners club? A resident of Oconee? Sign up or pay anything?
nope, nope, and nopety-nope.

So, what do I have to do?
After a race, send us an email with your name and what you did that earned points: won the race, placed 3rd in your age group, finished ...

Scoring:  IF A RACE DOUBLE-DIPS AWARDS you get 5 points for finishing ... plus 10 more points for placing third in your age group, 20 for second, 30 for first ... plus 10 more points if you are third overall, 20 second, 30 first.

IF A RACE DOES NOT DOUBLE-DIP we will go by the overall results and award points as if they had ... unless you argue with us about it, in which case we'll give you 5 points for your "3rd place that was really 4th since the overall winner was in my age group" win.

separate male/female

You have to email (or tell us somehow) after the race.  Please don't wait and save them up and dump them all on us at the end of the year.

Scoreboard here, if anybody participates.

If there are two races (like a 5k and a 1mi) then it's the longest one.  If Seneca High School has their open/masters track meet again this year, it will be the 5000.
