Masters/Open track meet at Seneca High

It's been a great year so far in Oconee for running, and now here's some more good news: Seneca High School is hosting a masters/open track meet on July 10th. [details here]

Now, it's a track & field event -- somewhat outside what we Road Runners Club types are usually into (longer distances on streets and trails). There will be shorter distance sprints, and people jumping over things and throwing stuff, but there's also a 5000 meter race.

This should be a good time. If you know anybody with an old pair of pole vaulting shoes in the attic, tell them to dust them off and sign up! It is an "open" meet, and coach Chris White told me, "our main purpose is for people to get out here, get active and have fun!"

There's also another new 5k on the calendar, July 17th, a fundraiser for Grace Baptist Church.

Be careful out in the heat, folks!
